VOY Releases First Reggaeton Feature Film On Home Video / DVD
SPIN Offers a Sensual Look at the Latin Hip Hop Industry

LOS ANGELES --January 3, 2010 -- VOY today announced the release of SPIN, the first feature film to capture the power and passion of popular Reggaeton music. The film will be available in stores on January 23rd, 2010.
SPIN,Spin, a sensual thriller, follows two beautiful Latinas with dreams of taking the music industry by storm, and who will do anything to realize their ambition. Filmed on location and set in the ultra-competitive music industry of Miami’s South Beach and Los Angeles, the movie brings the spirit of Reggaeton, a fusion of reggae, rap and Latin music, which continues to dominiate the Latin music charts.
“Reggaeton is one of the most powerful Latin cultural trends, and SPIN is the first feature film to capture this energy. SPIN will connect with Latino and cross-over audiences who have enthusiastically embraced this type of music, and it’s an example of VOY’s commitment to tell stories that show contemporary Latin culture in all its excitement and complexity,” said Lourdes Diaz, President of VOY Pictures.
SPIN SPIN stars Latino telenovela sensation Fernando Carrillo (Rosalinda, Maria Isabel), music heartthrob Shalim Ortiz, as well as Elika Crespo, Catalina Rodriguez, David Selby and Kim Morgan Greene. The movie is directed by Dan Neira.
"We wanted to show a side of U.S. Latinos that is rarely represented in film: Successful, non-stereotypical characters who attain the American Dream, but also pay a price along the way," said Dan Neira, SPIN ‘s SPIN’s director and Executive Producer.
Coinciding with the release of the film is the SPIN SPIN soundtrack featuring music by Latino Hip Hop stars Shalim Ortiz, Angel & Khriz, Rigo Luna, and Ricky Torrez. A music single from the film – Rosario, by Shalim Ortiz - has already been released to Latin radio stations throughout the country and is featured on www.voymusic.com, VOY’s online network of radio stations reaching millions of consumers.
